Over one hundred UCLA volunteers provide one-on-one tutoring yearly to adults, teens, and children at the Watts and Vernon branches of the LA Public Library and the Mar Vista Gardens housing development in Culver City. The Program for Adult Literacy (PAL) is a branch of Project Literacy that targets the adult population. PAL tutors work with adults in many areas of literacy including family literacy, GED exam study, citizenship test study, and basic-intermediate literacy. An emphasis is made in life skills, such as filling out applications and reading bills. Tutoring takes place in the Baldwin Hills public library. We meet at lot 6 on Wednesdays at 4:45 pm, and return at 8:00 pm (this accounts for transortation time. Tutoring takes place from 5:30-7:30 pm. On the way home, we drop you off at your place!)
